Germany everywhere (scary)

50 Voraue

The first person I spoke to in Kosovo was a cop. Obviously, he checked my passport. Not without asking me in fluent german, why I would be travelling to Kosovo and if it is the first time. The night guard of the dorm where I landed after an adventurous ride asked me: alles klar? and would inform me the next day that showers run exactly now, so I should go quickly to have some warm water. The market seller lived in Kassel, the school nearby teaches German as main language after english. Many people who fled Kosovo or went away for jobs and other reasons went to Germany. Many of them, the bus driver tells me, came back in the last years.
The largest numbers of Kosovan emigrants are found in Germany (300,000).
It looks like the diaspora payed more for the reconstruction of Kosovo than the gouvernment itself.
